Hi Wildcats!  We’re starting our second week of school, and our Wildcats are already doing amazing things.  Kindergarten and first graders are decorating writer’s notebooks, and 4th graders are setting up their science journals to begin making observations!  Our 5th graders begin their leadership jobs this week so be sure to wave at our greeters, morning helpers, or ask your children about our digital announcements!

We’d like to cover a few operational items:

Campus Communication.  All classroom teachers will send a weekly update each Monday in addition to updating their websites.  Be sure to bookmark!  You can locate your child’s teacher’s webpage under the staff link at the top of our page.  In addition, we would encourage you to join WhitestoneElementary’s facebook page along with following us on twitter @WSEWildcats and @NikiPrindle to see learning in action!  Regarding campus communication, we will send weekly communication each Monday too!

Dismissal:  2:50pm dismissal begins Monday, August 19th.  It always takes a few days, so continue to be patient.  Staff are working to keep students safe. We have a few reminders.

  • We have two car rider for K-2 and one for K-5.  Right now, the lines are a bit long, but they will shorten considerably and be more efficient if everyone remembers two things.

    • Family members should stay in their car.   Beginning Monday, we will ask any family member who walks up to pick up their child to return to their car to receive their child.  If your child is a car rider, please stay in line in your car. This is for the safety of your child and others!

    • NameSign:  Be sure to hang a sign on your car’s passenger side visor so the staff member calling names can easily read the sign.

  • Front walkers and bike riders meet at the bike racks on the east end of the front driveway to be able to utilize our crosswalks and crossing guards.

Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 27th for Family Curriculum Night at 5:30pm.  We will offer two sessions at 5:30pm and 6:30pm so your family can pick the session that is best for you or if you have more than one child, you can do one session for each of your children!

Thank you for your partnership and sharing your child with us!  Remember, we are WSE!
